About the Research and Education Council

The Education and Research Council is a vital pillar of Diversity in Aquatics, committed to advancing knowledge, equity, and innovation in the aquatic community. The Council compiles and shares valuable research, statistics, resources, and historical insights that shape understanding and practice in aquatics. It champions the development and dissemination of evidence-based approaches that enhance safety, participation, and education across all aquatic disciplines. A key focus is honoring the historical contributions of underrepresented communities and making research accessible to educators, coaches, and organizations. The Council also leads efforts for Diversity in Aquatics’ special edition of the International Journal of Aquatic Research and Education (IJARE), a globally respected publication dedicated to advancing the knowledge and practices of human aquatic professionals. Through these initiatives, the Council ensures that inclusive, data-driven strategies guide the future of aquatics.
